Job Description
 
Responsible for developing product and marketing strategies for company’s spine degeneration products and for managing the activities of the product line as required. The role includes product development strategy, management of new product marketing activities and continuing product support. This position will require working as part of a cross functional team with R&D, sales and marketing and developing strong relationships with key surgeons in the spine market.
 
  • Develop a needs assessment based on market research and surgeon feedback to create product specifications.
  • Create and implement a complete marketing plan for new product introductions including support materials, introduction strategies, pricing, and training education.
  • Manage product release schedules including all release materials and communication to the field.
  • Work with a cross functional team of sales and operations to forecast product and inventory needs.
  • Coordinate clinical labs, panel meetings, and intra-operative surgical evaluations.
  • Manage existing product lines including recommendations for line extension/cannibalization/obsolescence, forecasting, pricing strategies, manufacturing support and customer service support.
  • Identify market trends, competitive activities and business opportunities and develop strategic plans to help the company maximize performance and exceed operating objectives.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key surgeons in specified market segments. These surgeons are key in the development of new products, needs assessments, and training requirements.
  • Develop and maintain competitive reference materials for each product line. Information should include but is not limited to competitor product offerings, pricing, photos, technological features and a comparison to Custom Spine products to be used as a reference and sales tool.
  • Participate in sales and marketing planning activities as well as the creation of marketing collaterals.
  • Manage new product budget including prototypes, clinical labs, product evaluations and sales/marketing samples.
  • Field travel should represent 40% of the Product Manager’s time to include but not limited to: 1) Travel to support clinical evaluation for new or pending products; 2) Travel to meetings and symposia; 3) Travel to attend surgeries, gather market information and develop relationships with key surgeons in a specified market; 4) Travel to support Regional VPs for added product support as needed.
 
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business or Engineering preferred)
  • Five to ten years experience in the spine or orthopedic industry (cervico-thoraco-lumbar product experience preferred)
  • Product management experience with a focus on design and development planning
  • Excellent communication skills both spoken and written
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Self-starter with superior time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
