PATHWAY PLIF

The Pathway Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (PLIF) device is inserted through two incisions, which are made bilaterally on opposite sides of the posterior spine.  Two smaller implants packed with autogenous grafting material are inserted, one on each side, to support the spine.  Care must be taken to prevent nerve root damage.

Features and Benefits

Pathway PLIF features:

» System Flexibility:  Implants are available in both 0° and 6°.  Both implants measure 23mm long and are available in a range 1mm incremental heights to better accommodate patient anatomy

» Ease of Insertion:  The interbody is designed with a tapered profile and bullet shaped nose to promote easier insertion into the disc space

» Improved Visibility:  Radiolucent PEEK® Optima implant and tantalum markers improve intra-operative visibility

» Enhanced Spinal Support:  Convex surface optimizes implant and bone graft contact with adjacent anatomy

» Migration Risk Reduced:  Unidirectional teeth resist implant migration

» Bone Growth Enhanced:  Dual implant reservoirs accommodate bone graft to facilitate in-growth between bone graft and adjacent tissue

» Insertion Control:  The non-threaded interface between the implant and instrument secures the implant to the inserter to prevent cross threading and minimize implant breakage while providing the surgeon with enhanced implant control

Indications for Use:

Pathway PLIF (posterior interbody fusion) device is intended for spinal fusion procedures at one or two contiguous levels (L2-S1) in skeletally mature patients with the following conditions:
